Gretchen Driskell Out-Raises Walberg in Third Quarter of 2016; Raises over $582,000
Driskell has now raised over $2 million this cycle

SALINE– Gretchen Driskell (D-Saline), candidate for Congress in Michigan’s 7th District, reported raising $564,528 in the most recent filing period and $582,503 in the third quarter of 2016, out-raising Walberg by over $60,000 this quarter. The filing brings her total raised for the cycle thus far to $2,083,632.

“Our strong filing today shows that the hard-working families of the 7th District are ready for a representative who will work hard to help everyone succeed, not just those with money and power,” Driskell said. “My opponent, Congressman Walberg, has taken millions from special interests and even admitted that he was “bought and paid for” by one DC group. I’m proud of the incredible grassroots support we continue to build among hard-working parents, seniors, and students across the district, with thousands of donors contributing. We plan to keep growing that support as we work to give our neighbors the representation they deserve.”

Walberg reported raising $512,413 for the filing period and $522,358 for the quarter, coming up short to Driskell for the fourth time this cycle. This is Driskell’s largest filing of the cycle, further demonstrating the grassroots momentum the campaign has generated since Driskell announced her candidacy last year. She has continually out-raised Congressman Walberg, or nearly matched him, quarter-for-quarter throughout the election cycle.

“Our neighbors are hungry for leadership that truly represents them. Congressman Walberg clearly doesn’t represent our priorities here in the 7th District, and it’s time to put him in permanent retirement,” Driskell added. “Walberg has voted for every foreign trade deal during his time in Congress, costing Michigan tens of thousands of jobs. In Congress, I’ll fight to stop foreign trade deals like TPP that outsource our jobs, fix bad deals like NAFTA that have forced our kids to leave Michigan to find work, and fight to protect Medicare and Social Security.”

The 7th Congressional District covers Jackson, Branch, Eaton, Hillsdale, Lenawee, Monroe and Washtenaw counties and is considered one of the top battleground districts in the country.
